Helpmate: Your Move
February 13th, 2012

When people begin to think about how to refer to their spouse, there are many different associations that come to mind. Some think of their spouse as a partner with whom they have for the rest of their lives. One to be by their side and share in all of the ups and downs this world has to offer. Others like to refer to their spouse as a confidant in whom they find their greatest vault. The spousal relationship is in fact a place of utmost confidences. To have transparency in the marital relationship is a blessed thing. One of the more popular ideas amongst the...

Intensive: Scary?
February 6th, 2012

Firstly the the word INTENSIVE suggests a rather focused time frame to beginning a different way of living in marriage - DAYS. For the majority of marriages, it could be said that issues have the potential to arise in a matter of seconds - much less a matter of days. Husbands say yes when theirs wives expected them to say no. Wives inadvertently communicate a wrong message to their husbands by cooking fish instead of chicken. Each of these instances happen within a matter of minutes. The concept of taking a step back and looking at marriage for an extended 5-day period...

You, Me, and US
January 30th, 2012

The day is filled with lengthy preparations, a multitude of emotions, and numerous people. Based out of tradition bride and groom are not allowed to see one another until the moment their eyes meet at the alter. Up to this point in their lives, each bride and each groom have dreamt about this moment. Mothers and fathers pray for and long to see the satisfaction in their children's eyes, as the joy of marriage becomes a possibility, a feeling they themselves have had.

Up to this point the bride has spent the majority of her life learning what it means to...

Welcome ALL
January 23rd, 2012

The series, Experiences that Change Lives, has talked about how The Hideaway Experience uses their intensives to change marriages through experience. What is remarkable about the Hideaway is that it strives to be the beginning of a life lived in freedom and total health for generations to come. Such healing was sought also by a woman in the midst of Jesus' ministry:

"As Jesus went, the people pressed around him. And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and though she had spent all her living on physicians, she could not be...

Location, Location, Location
January 16th, 2012

One of the most unique aspects of the Hideaway Experience is that it incorporates healthy life choices into the four-day intensive. Privileging above all else the importance of an individual relationship with Jesus Christ, The Hideaway works to incorporate healthy decision-making, healthy thinking, and healthy living all beginning on the property.

Getting to the facility begins the journey for husband and wife. Nestled in the midst of the Texas plain country, the narrow road to the property quickly reveals breath-taking views of Mulberry Creek Canyon. The...

A Service of Hospitality
January 9th, 2012

Rarely does the idea of hospitality involve a super natural impartation. It more commonly involves an experience with someone from the South or a visit to grandmother's house. Regardless, what hospitality does is demand is an attitude of service.

In one of the most interesting experiences of Jesus' journey, He models this idea of service in its purest form:

"Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God, rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking...

Experiences that Change Lives
January 2nd, 2012

The majority of the experiences in Jesus' life were naturally intensive in nature. Intensive in the sense that he used his everyday experiences for a purpose. A purpose greater than himself.

The Hideaway Experience operates on the same principle - to create a place of experience for the Holy Spirit to mightily move throughout every life and relationship that enters the property. From the sequestered location to the hand chosen therapists, The Hideaway is an experience that continually moves lives closer to the healing power of the Holy Spirit. Offering...

One Size Fits All
December 26th, 2011

Every week I have the privilege of working with different churches and non-profit organizations, helping them find ways to raise awareness, increase effectiveness, and ultimately further the mission of their organization. I cannot tell you how many times our conversations begin with, 'I want to do what they are doing?' As a father of 4 kids under the age of 7, I am very familiar with this statement. My typical response is, 'Well Son, our family does things a little different, Bobby's parents may let him ride his bike in the middle of the street, but we'd rather you not die, so stay on the...

Starbucks vs. the Other Guys
December 23rd, 2011

I am a fan of coffee, not the plain black kind, but the sophisticated, you think your cool, kind of coffee. Amarillo may be a small town, but we have no shortage of coffee joints, in fact there are 17 different options within 5 minutes of my house. I spend my mornings at Starbucks, have meetings at Roasters (the local staple), and afternoons downtown at The Ground. Needless to say, I spend way too much time and money in coffee shops.

As a frequenter of these spots I am fascinated by their unique differences. Some are known for their consistent coffee, others their...
