The series, Experiences that Change Lives, has talked about how The Hideaway Experience uses their intensives to change marriages through experience. What is remarkable about the Hideaway is that it strives to be the beginning of a life lived in freedom and total health for generations to come. Such healing was sought also by a woman in the midst of Jesus' ministry:
"As Jesus went, the people pressed around him. And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and though she had spent all her living on physicians, she could not be healed by anyone. She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment, and immediately he discharge of blood ceased. And Jesus said, 'Who was it that touched me?' When all denied it, Peter said, 'Master, the crowds surround you and are pressing on you!' But Jesus said, 'Someone touched me, for I perceive that power has gone out of me.' And when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling before him declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him, and how she had been immediately healed. And he said to her, 'Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.'" Luke 8:43-48
Desperate for an experience with Jesus, the women reached out and grabbed hold of the hem of His garment AND WAS HEALED. This moment in the bible is on that happens while Jesus is moving, in fact moving to help someone else entirely. His miracles were able to change lives while He worked to change lives. The woman had spent twelve years of her life living with a sickness that virtually would have controlled every other aspect of her life. In a moment of experience between Christ and her she found healing. As seen with the man who was lowered through the roof, what healed this woman was her faith.
The Hideaway Experience does in fact aim to create a place of total experience for its guests, but more than simply having a few days of nice lodgings and good food, it desires for its guests to experience the Holy Spirit. All of the amenities are second to the pleading presence of the mighty work the Holy Spirit does in this place.
Jesus worked to teach people that they need not clean up their act to be presentable to Him. In fact He preferred that the ugly, widowed, and hurting be brought to Him so he could release the power of God into their lives. The Hideaway expresses the same desire. They welcome the wounded, the skeptic, and the hardened. Because in a place that works to allow the experiences of Jesus to move, they believe in faith for a great work in the lives of their guests.
